Keeping an eye on engine vitals?
There are a lot of ways to monitor your engine vitals.
We have a large range of REDARC equipment that is Australian designed and made. If your towing a heavy load it’s a must to understand the limits and to keep your engine in tip too health.
EGT – Exhaust gas temperature – High loads and high speeds result in the highest temperatures. Generally, temperatures of 500–700°C (932–1293°F)are produced in the exhaust gases from diesel-cycle engines at 100% load to 200–300°C (392–572°F) with no load. Exhaust gases normally discharges at a temperature of around 420°C (788°F).
Engine coolant – Most experts agree that your engine should run between 90 degrees and 104 degrees. In ideal situations, your needle will maintain a posture right in the middle of your gauge. Keep in mind that this can go up or down depending on the conditions in the vehicle itself (such as running the air conditioner, heater or traversing a hill).
Battery voltage – With the engine off, the fully charged car battery voltage will measure 12.6 volts. This is known as “resting voltage.” When the engine is running, battery voltage will typically rise to 13.5 to 14.5 volts.
These are just a few but are many more, transmission temperatures, diff temperatures, fuel temperature, oil pressure and the list goes on. We are all ways here happy to help with any questions or protecting your pride and joy.
